Spotlight Series: Otters

During the month of May, The Philadelphia Zoo and GPCAAZK are celebrating Giant river otters. Visit the zoo and experience special feedings, enrichment and keeper chats or sign up for a Behind-The-Scenes tour. Can’t make it to the zoo? You can still join the fun!

All month long we will be raffling off paintings made by the Philadelphia Zoo’s Giant otter group and donating the proceeds to Projeto Ariranhas (The Giant Otter Project). Scroll down to read more about this incredible organization. Every dollar donated is one entry into our raffle. Raffle winners will be chosen at the end of the month!

Projeto Ariranhas, or The Giant Otter Project, is a conservation organization based in South America working to help the Giant river otter (Pteronuro brasiliensis). Projeto Ariranhas works to showcase this species as an integral part of its ecosystem and foster peaceful coexistence with the people of its native habitat. Their vision is “to be a reference in the development of innovative strategies that promote the conservation of the giant otter and associated biodiversity and the quality of people’s life, and to be an inspiration for new generations engaged in the search for balanced ecosystems.”
